Meet Heartbeat!

Heartbeat is a multimedia project with a mission to boost local economies, further cultural

development and give prominence to diversity.

Vancouver Heartbeat (VHB) is a lifestyle TV program and a revolutionary, online video directory of the

city of Vancouver. It is also a vibrant blog and a column in local newspapers and magazines. VHB is

a platform for showcasing the city’s businesses, artists, leaders and organisations in sustainable

solutions and furthermore it features our cultural heritage, landmarks and tourist attractions.

Television Program

Vancouver is a city bursting with vivacity, innovation, multiculturalism and creativity.

VHB is set to become the television program leader in showcasing local

businesses, promoting resident artists, featuring sustainable choices and celebrating diversity in the

greater city of Vancouver, in a half hour-once weekly television program.

The dynamic visual styles, user generated content and up-close and personal interviews of local

visionaries of art, business, cause and lifestyle are what make VHB a unique and

exciting venture.

VHB enhances the identity of our city. The television program

focuses on the following trademark topics of interest of the community:

Art, Business, Leadership and Healthy Lifestyles

In ART, VHB promotes artists: from filmmakers and actors to culinary kings,

from architects and graphic designers to dancers and DJ’s, from painters and award winning

photographers to fashion designers and singers. Vancouver is a haven of creativity that has made

an indelible mark on the world. VHB features such emerging and established artists who call

Vancouver home.

BUSINESS is booming in Vancouver. VHB promotes entrepreneurs who are changing the face

of business and rising as market leaders, or are innovators in their field. In this segment, VHB

focuses on small and local businesses like Vancity’s Credit Union, the first union set out to be a

carbon-neutral financial institution in North America, or Lululemon and its grassroots approach to

marketing.

The world-reknowned environmental activist, David Suzuki, is one of a multitude of pioneers that

VHB profiles in the LEADERSHIP segment. Also featured are organizations, charities, non-profits

and movements that had their start in Vancouver, such as Green Peace, and other

groundbreaking concepts that are shifting the debate in social, economic and environmental change worldwide.

The HEALTHY LIFESTYLES section showcase the variety of fitness, sports, health, alternative

healing methods and lifestyle choices that are part of everyday Vancouverite’s lives. In this

segment, we promote sustainability by featuring organic farmers in the GVRD and restaurants with

environmentally conscience mantras on their menu.

Vancouver Heartbeat is a collection of inspiring stories about the people who work to enhance the

identity of Vancouver and its culture. The connecting threads of all Vancouver Heartbeat content

are the environmentally, economically and socially responsible individuals behind each and every

story. From the content to the correspondents, from the set design to the hosts’ wardrobe, VHB is

Vancouver centric.
